We value striving for excellence every single day, in every single situation. We know that excellence is the result of purposefully learning from failures and challenges.
We value the wealth of experiences and perspectives that our diverse community brings to SOAR, and know that understanding these different perspectives creates compassionate, critical thinkers and leaders.
We endeavor to find joy in every experience and undertaking. Our learning community is one that celebrates the joy of learning and personal discovery.
Arts integration demands creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, collaboration and the ability to work through the rigorous demands of multiple ideas and concepts woven together to create a final product. As a foundational component in our program, this provides the opportunities for teachers and students to create their own meaning.
We value our individuality, diverse perspectives and the power of community.
We get smarter and smarter through hard work and learning from failure; we value the small, persistent steps that it takes to be great; we know that greatness in anything is the result of continual practice over long periods of time

Interim Principal’s Corner

Sasha Tyshler

Welcome SOAR families!

As we venture into the 2018-2019 school year, I want to thank you for choosing SOAR Academy Charter Elementary School for caring, and developing your little ones. It has been a whirlwind summer with many highs and lows. We moved into a new building, built a brand new playground, and started many new interesting ways to engage our students, families and communities. Sadly we lost members of the SOAR family as well. The out pouring of love and support, your patience as we get settled into our new space and general encouragement is motivational to say the least. It reminds us why we are committed to the service of educating children and how valuable this partnership is for the Tacoma Community and beyond. Thank you for choosing SOAR.

I will try to update this corner often so please do check as you go along.

I Would Like You To Know

Loading and Unloading Your Students

In the morning parents/guardians please either follow in the drop off line patiently and only hand your student off to a SOAR staff who will be waiting. Or, you may park safely only in the authorized areas and then take your student to a SOAR staff at the door or in the cafeteria.

In the afternoon, please park safely only in the authorized parking areas, then come into the building and pick up your student from the designated area. You will be directed to such areas.

Community Concerns

For the safety of our students and community I trust my SOAR families to do the following:

  • pay attention to the crossing guard
  • observe stop signs
  • avoid parking on the crosswalk
  • avoid parking in a no parking zone
  • avoid double parking
  • ensure general safety
