EXCELLENCE
We value striving for excellence every single day, in every single situation. We know that excellence is the result of purposefully learning from failures and challenges.
DIVERSITY
We value the wealth of experiences and perspectives that our diverse community brings to SOAR, and know that understanding these different perspectives creates compassionate, critical thinkers and leaders.
JOY
We endeavor to find joy in every experience and undertaking. Our learning community is one that celebrates the joy of learning and personal discovery.
ARTS ARE FOUNDATIONAL
Arts integration demands creativity, problem-solving, perseverance, collaboration and the ability to work through the rigorous demands of multiple ideas and concepts woven together to create a final product. As a foundational component in our program, this provides the opportunities for teachers and students to create their own meaning.
INDIVIDUAL AND COMMUNITY
We value our individuality, diverse perspectives and the power of community.
CONTINUOUS GROWTH MINDSET
We get smarter and smarter through hard work and learning from failure; we value the small, persistent steps that it takes to be great; we know that greatness in anything is the result of continual practice over long periods of time

Welcome back Soar Families!

We are very excited to start this new calendar year with all of you! We hope you were able to spend some time recharging during the break and are ready to tackle this second half of the school year. I look forward to continuing being partners in supporting our scholars in their academic journey. We are also looking forwards to a fun second half with events such as Family STEAM Night on February 6th from 6-7:30 and our monthly Community and Family Engagement Meetings! Our entire staff is committed to helping every student soar by reaching their highest potential and prepare them for success in high school, college, and beyond. On behalf of all of us here at SOAR Academy thank you for continuing this journey with us. Happy New year and again, Welcome back!

I will try to update this corner often so please do check as you go along.

I Would Like You To Know

Loading and Unloading Your Students

In the morning parents/guardians please either follow in the drop off line patiently and only hand your student off to a SOAR staff who will be waiting. Or, you may park safely only in the authorized areas and then take your student to a SOAR staff at the door or in the cafeteria.

In the afternoon, please park safely only in the authorized parking areas, then come into the building and pick up your student from the designated area. You will be directed to such areas.

Community Concerns

For the safety of our students and community I trust my SOAR families to do the following:

  • pay attention to the crossing guard
  • observe stop signs
  • avoid parking on the crosswalk
  • avoid parking in a no parking zone
  • avoid double parking
  • ensure general safety

On January 24, 2019, the SOAR Academy Board of Directors issued the following statement:

“It is with heavy hearts that we are announcing our very difficult decision to cease operations at the end of the current school year. In collaboration with key partners in the Washington charter public school community, we have explored every possibility to keep our school open, but ultimately have been unable to identify the resources needed to continue delivering our fully inclusive model. In SOAR’s four wonderful years as a school community, we have been proud to create a system that values families and their children, acknowledges the arts as foundational, and creates an inclusive, rigorous, and joyful place for all students to learn. SOAR will remain fully operational through the end of the current school year. Families were notified immediately of this difficult decision, and our team is diligently supporting them in identifying options for their children for next year.”
